Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound”
Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised”
II Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
Throughout the American Revolutionary War, General George Washington proclaimed that their struggles for liberty were a “sacred cause.” Possibly the last time he used that phrase was in his charge to His men at Valley Forge as he reminded them of the “sacred cause in which they [were] engaged.” (see https://prayatlunch.us/one-heart-one-mind-one-soul/) By the time he took his inauguration oath on April 30th, 1789, President Washington charged his fellow citizens to preserve the “sacred fire of liberty.” (see https://prayatlunch.us/propitious-smiles-of-heaven/) Those forefathers assembled in Manhattan for the first inaugural address had succeeded in achieving the sacred cause of liberty and had ignited the burning flame of the sacred fire of liberty. Each generation to follow was responsible to fan those flames by following the “eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained.”
As that sacred fire of liberty diminishes in modern day America at the hands of an increasingly secular and godless society, we are responsible to keep the fire burning. It is our generation’s sacred cause, no less important than the sacred cause of our forefathers in establishing this great nation.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE COURAGE AND CONVICTION TO STAND STRONG FOR THE SACRED CAUSE OF LIBERTY IN THIS LAND. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty, and we must fan the flames of this sacred fire.
