Judges 3:14-16 “So the children for Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years. But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab. But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.”

Judges 3:21 “And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly”

II Corinthians 12:8-10 “For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

The Lord shares an interesting detail with us about the second Judge – Ehud. He was left-handed.

It those days, being left-handed was seen as a form of a handicap. Yet, as we read on further about Ehud we discover that he took the dagger hidden under his raiment on his right thigh and using his left hand slew the conquering king that had ruled over God’s people for eighteen years. The Lord used that apparent handicap as the means of deliverance for His people.

The power of the Lord rested upon him, and Ehud’s strength was made perfect in weakness!

The same can be true for us today. It should compel us cling to the truths of II Corinthians. His grace is sufficient for us. May we gladly glory in our infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon us.

PLEASE PRAY FOR AMERICAN CHRISTIANS TO CLING TO GOD’S POWER REGARDLESS OF OUR INFIRMITIES, REPROACHES, NECESSITIES, PERSECUTIONS, AND DISTRESSES. Through the Lord, an apparent handicap can be a source of deliverance.
