Luke 2:10-14 “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Philippians 4:6-8 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Isaiah 9:2 “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s 1944 Christmas proclamation included the following:
“The Christmas spirit lives tonight in the bitter cold of the front lines in Europe and in the heat of the jungles and swamps of Burma and the Pacific islands. Even the roar of our bombers and fighters in the air and the guns of our ships at sea will not drown out the messages of Christmas which come to the hearts of our fighting men.”
In the midst of the chaos of World War II that was raging around the planet, President Roosevelt stressed the piercing peace of God and the prevailing power of His presence. His Spirit existed on the front lines, amidst the drowning sound of conflict, and in the beating hearts of personnel in the heat of battle. His Spirit lived on for them regardless of location or circumstance, even when surrounded by an environment of chaos and turmoil.
His Spirit does the same for us today, regardless of our location or circumstance, even when surrounded by an environment of chaos and turmoil. Fear not! Instead, embrace the gift of His good tidings of great joy. He freely offers the peace of God, which passes all understanding, and manifests a great light in the darkness.
PLEASE PRAY THAT WE WOULD ALLOW THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT TO COMFORT AND CONSUME US DURING THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON. The Christmas Spirit lives as we serve on the front lines for Him.
